Rick just returned from a great weekend in Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC. Rick started the 08/09 school year monthly Shabbat series at 6th and I Historic Synagogue in D.C. for young professionals. This monthly series features both Rick Recht and Jewish Rock Records artist, Sheldon Low, alternating roughly every other month and has become a huge hit in DC with college and post-college aged youth. It was a sweet service experience!
Rick was also Artist in Residence at a special leadership retreat at Capital Camps for the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington. There were two amazing groups of Birthright and lay leaders from the area and lots of Shabbat celebration ending in a massive camp fire songsession. Finally, Rick returned to Baltimore to launch the Chizuk Amuno 'Teen Team' - a sophisticated 3-year, teen-to-teen leadership mentoring program that Rick has designed and launched in both St. Louis and Memphis. More to come on the Chizuk Amuno Teen Team! Aside from the weekend, Rick and the band have been traveling like crazy with dates on the east coast, west coast, and midwest... and still laying tracks for the upcoming Simply Shabbat album.
